We're Moving
Five Lakes Church will move to a new location for worship this year! Healthy things grow, and the growth of our faith family led us to begin the process of expansion in 2018. After 6 years of praying, planning, preaching, baptisms, and lives changed by the love and mercy of God, the time to move is here!
Serve your faith family this summer by joining a team to help complete the build and make the move.
Timeline expectations
(subject to change with construction schedules and developments related to the sale of our current facility):
Principle construction at Mitchaw underway, packing at McCord Road, installation projects and landscaping at Mitchaw, goal for substantial completion by end of May
Goal for occupancy at Mitchaw, contractor punch list underway, more packing at McCord, more installation projects at Mitchaw, beginning to move
Moving into Mitchaw, big move weekend 7/12-14, goal for Mitchaw church office to open on 7/15
Goal for first worship services at Mitchaw on 8/4, completing move out of McCord
TEAMS
Installation Team
This team assembles & installs materials to complete various projects throughout the facility (e.g. acoustic panels, mirrors, televisions, whiteboards, counters, desks, tables, chairs, shelves, etc.).
Team members should bring: DIY project experience, confidence using various methods to mount things to walls, high attention to detail and appreciation for excellence, ability to follow detailed instructions from manuals and/or a team leader, operate a screw gun, effectively use a level/laser level, and lift at least 30 lbs. Some jobs will require ability/willingness to use a ladder or electric lift.
Age limit: 18
Time frame focus: April-August.
Landscape Team
This team executes a landscape plan that may include a mix of seeding, planting, mulching, etc.
Team members should bring: Ability to shovel, rake, dig, plant, and operate a wheelbarrow. Willing to serve outside in various spring weather conditions.
Time frame focus: March-May, potentially extending into June.
Packing Team
This team packs McCord Road with an emphasis on operations & facilities inventory (also available to assist other ministry teams as needed).
Team members should bring: Experience with packing boxes: e.g. discerning the right size of box, filling boxes fully, properly protecting things that are packed.
Time frame focus: May-June, potentially extending into July-August.
Move Team
This team moves everything necessary from McCord to Mitchaw with trucks, vans, planes, trains, and automobiles.
Team members should bring: Positive attitude, strong physical stamina, ability to lift 30-50 lbs.
Timeframe focus: June-July, Big move weekend July 12-14
Assembly Team
This team assists with finishing spaces, including some furniture/equipment assembly, final placement of decor/furniture, and cleaning.
Team members should bring: Open mind concerning decor preferences, willingness to work within established plans, ability to lift 20-30 lbs.
Timeframe focus: July-August, some potentially in June
Hospitality Team
This team serves throughout the move by delivering water, food, and encouragement to the overall team.
Team members should bring: Servant heart and words of encouragement.
Time frame focus: June-August
